2024 Auto Academy
For rising Juniors or Graduating 2024 Seniors interested in the automotive industry. Students will participate in a 6-week program at a Cutter dealerships for half the day, then attend classes at HonCC for the other half of the day. This is a FREE program paid for by First Hawaiian Bank. Tuition, tools and supplies will all be covered. This is a six week, 4 credit course that students will be graded on. There will be homework, tests, and a final exam. Students who complete the course with a C or better will earn 4 college credits towards an AAS in Automotive Technology.

Food Biosecurity Program @ LCC
What is food biosecurity? It's the protection of food from biological threats and hazards such as pests, diseases, invasive species, and/or supply chain issues. If you are interested in studying Food Biosecurity at Leeward Community College here are two opportunities to earn $$ and gain experience/knowledge within the field.
The Summer Experiential Learning Program (for which there is a financial award of up to $2500) is a general introduction to the food biosecurity industry. The program commitment is from June 3rd to July 12th.
The Full Tuition Support for your first year at LCC (plus financial aid award) will require a commitment to enroll in specific courses each semester, all of which would serve as prerequisites or electives to fulfill your degree requirements. There are also opportunities for directed research or peer mentoring activities for those who have strong interest.
Hawaii Pacific Health's Health Careers Summer Internship
A 6 week, paid internship program is designed to provide students an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the health care industry. Internships are offered at Hawaii Pacific Health and our network of medical centers in Hawaii. Program runs from June 17 to July 26. Students will learn about hospital systems, interact with experienced health care professionals, and explore a variety of different health care professions.

Nalukai Academy - Startup Camp
The 2024 Nalukai Academy Summer Startup Camp will be held from July 5th-14th on Hawaii Island. Due date for applications has been extended to April 19th.
Ho'opuliko Kumu Hou Program
Ho'opuliko Kumo Hou targets to empower and stregthen the number of teachers who are rooted in their communities and committed to their kuleana to Hawai'i students. Ho'opuliko Kumo Hou provides teacher candidates the opportunity to focus on increasing Hawaiian cultural knowledge, values, practices, and principles in their classroom as a way to reach all students. Applicants must be accepted to UHWO and declare SEC/MID LVL as your major.

The Medical Diagnosis and Treatment Summer Program at UH Manoa
This week-long summer program for students currently in grades 10-12 provides an engaging, hands-on learning opportunity for students interested in health professions. It will be in-person at the UH Mānoa John A. Burns School of Medicine in Kaka‘ako. If required by state or institutional public health and restrictions at the medical school at the time, this program may change to a hybrid activity with in-person and virtual activities or to an entirely virtual activity.
The program usually includes gross anatomy laboratory demonstrations, clinical skills laboratories, computerized manikin simulations, and simulated patient interactions that enables students to learn how to:
describe the epidemiology, signs and symptoms, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses common in Hawaii
perform basic clinical skills such as measuring vital signs and listening to the heart and lungs with stethoscopes
interview and counsel patients
The Medical Diagnosis and Treatment program is part of UH Mānoa’s Summer Programs. The fee is $525**. To register, submit the completed PROGRAM APPLICATION to Summer Programs by May 31, 2024. **There are a few needs-based scholarships that cover the registration fee. More information about the scholarships is available in the scholarship FAQs. Completed SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION must be received by 4:30 p.m., April 12, 2024.
USDA AgDiscovery Summer Youth Program
The Hawaii AgDiscovery Program will be held this summer July 7 - July 20, 2024 and is open to high school students in grads 9, 10, and 11 who are interested in exploring career and educational opportunities in the plant and animal science fields, with presentations by USDA and the University of Hawaii and visit local agribusinesses. Students will participate in a wide range of hands-on activities, such as pest identification, chocolate tasting, DNA barcoding, and plant inspections. Students will also get to experience Hawaiian culture by engaging in canoe paddling, lei making, and managing invasive species to protect the native ecosystem-all while absorbing college life on the UH Manoa Campus.
All applications must be submitted online by April 5, 2024 midnight (ET). Applications are available at www.aphis.usda.gov/agdiscovery. Essays and letters of recommendations will be required along with your completed application form. Details and list of additional requirements available on the website.
Costs for the program, room, and board are covered. *Costs associated with traveling to UH Manoa on opening day and returning home at the conclusion of the program on closing day will not be provided.

ZIPPY'S High School Internship Program - Culinary & Front of the House
This is a paid summer internship available to Juniors and Seniors (age 16-18).
Applicants must have a 2.0+ GPA
Be able to follow all policies and procedures. Must arrive on time to all scheduled shifts in proper attire, ready to work and learn.
Program Dates: June 5 - July 31
Pay rate: $12-$15 per hour
Work hours: 15 hours per week minimum, 30 hoursper week maximum

The NHSEMP Freshman Bridge is a 10-week program for students interested in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). This program addresses areas of interest for incoming college freshmen: greater preparation for college-level math courses, financial assistance, comfort within a large university system, and a smooth transition from high school to college. In addition, students will perform research in university laboratories under the guidance of UH faculty members, researchers, and graduate students.
