Registration in November-make sure the courses you register for will fulfill college entrance requirements. For example: Algebra II is a minimum for most 4 year colleges... Or do you need a World Language credit?
College Entrance Tests - MHS Code: 120-197. Check with your schools to see if you need a test score. These tests usually should be completed spring of your Junior year. If you receive free/reduced lunch you can qualify for fee waivers for test fees and application fees. Check out our Testing tab to find out more information about dates and test prep resources.
Build your school list. Now is the time to do your research on schools & majors.

-Attend a College Fair to learn about many colleges all at once. The big annual NACAC Fair in Hawaii usually happens in the Fall. Don't forget to check out our announcements page for College events and fairs happening on our campus just for Mililani families!)
-Attend a speaker visit at C&CC for a more personal look at a specific school. Look on our speaker visit page for more information.
Letters of Recommendation (LOR)- Not every school will need a LOR but it's a good idea to start thinking about who you might ask to write you a LOR. Schools might request for a letter from a teacher, counselor, or community member. When choosing your recommenders keep the following in mind
-Choose teachers you have connected with and who you feel know you well.
-A Counselor Recommender can be your Grade Level OR your College & Career Counselor. Ask the one you know better.
-An example of a Community Member can be a coach, pastor, or club advisor.
-ASK your recommenders early! Some recommenders might request things from you (such as a resume or to complete an interview) so it's important to ask them early so you both have ample time to prepare. You should also ask BEFORE adding their information to any application. First, to make sure you have the correct (and preferred) contact information for them and second, so they know to expect (and not to dismiss) communication regarding the recommendation such as an email link, etc.
-More information about LORs on the College Planning tab.
Create a Resume. Your resume should be a list of activities, including leadership positions, list of awards/honors, any employment/volunteer positions you have held, and your academic information (GPA, Test Scores, etc.) This resume is used for college applications, scholarships, and might be requested by some recommenders to help them write their letters. Be sure to keep this document updated with your achievements!
