The Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) is pleased to announce a continued partnership with Kapiolani Community College (KCC), to provide the Second Language Teaching (SLT), Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) online program. This program allows for English Learner (EL) teachers the opportunity to earn 30 credits to become Every Student Succeeds Act Hawaii-Qualified in TESOL. All program costs for accepted teachers will be funded by the HIDOE.
Qualified individuals will be offered the opportunity to take 10 TESOL courses from the KCC SLT three-year online program. Accepted teachers are required to keep/obtain an EL teaching position within HIDOE for three years following program completion.
Individuals who are accepted will need to attend a mandatory KCC online orientation, and commit to the terms and conditions of acceptance by signing a Contract and Promissory Note provided by HIDOE.
