ABOUT THE TEACHER
Aloha Mai Kakou,
My name is Mr. Calvin Paleka and I teach World History and Transitions for HUI Ikaika. I was born and raised on Kaua'i and graduated from Kapa'a High School. I attended Brigham Young University-Hawaii for a year and then served a two year church mission in Japan, returned back to BYU-H and graduated with a degree in Social Science teaching and a minor in Japanese Language.
I have been a teacher at Kapa'a High School for 32 years and have taught different subjects of history, computer science and Japanese language. I also serve as the school's Assistant Athletic Director and assistant coach with our football program and Head Coach of the boys and girls varsity track and field team. I have been with the HUI's and Freshmen Academy for 15 years.
In my free time I enjoy watching movies, football, being with my family and eating. I am the biggest Dallas Cowboys and Boston Celtics fan at Kapa'a High School.
I look foward to meeting all of you and helping you become a part of our Warrior Ohana.
