Enter the world of digital media where technology, creativity, and reality come together to enhance your learning experience. Explore media-related topics such as video/film production, computer graphics, animation, augmented and virtual reality, digital photography, and podcasting. This semester-long elective can be a prerequisite to the year-long 8th-grade media production elective commonly known as PantherVision.
This is an exploratory course focusing on journalism and media production. Students will practice real-world journalism skills, with an emphasis on television broadcasting. The course will give students opportunities to examine the nature and impact of various media on their lives. Media such as film/video production, computer graphics, digital imaging and virtual/augmented reality are featured in the class.
Students will also be responsible for the daily operations of PantherVision, the school’s closed-circuit television channel. In addition, they will be involved with producing segments for PBS Hawaii’s Hiki No student news network and participating in various digital media competitions. This course is designed to address the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards for Career and Technical Education through the study of industry and technology.
Class size is limited.
