Welcome to the Induction & Mentoring Program. We are so excited to have you teaching in the Aiea-Moanalua-Radford Complex Area. We hope that you find this career meaningful, challenging and most of all rewarding!
It is an exciting time to be part of the Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE)! Upon being hired, you are guaranteed support from a school-based mentor who is well-trained, of high quality, and engage in research-based standards of mentoring practices!
HSTA Contract (Appendix VI):
“Probationary teachers in their first and second year will be provided a dedicated teacher mentor in accordance with their complex area’s induction and mentoring program and as required by
Board of Education Policy 5100.”

As a new teacher in the profession, you will be assigned to a trained Instructional Mentor for your first 2 years of your teaching career. Our mentors have been carefully selected and vetted to ensure you are served with a highly qualified professional who offers a wealth of experience to help you reach your fullest potential as a highly effective teacher. Please take advantage of all opportunities of this very valuable support! Mentors are expected to meet with you for a minimum of 180 minutes per month (3 times a month for 60 minute sessions). Mentors will use evidence-based tools in guiding you through your teaching practice! These are guaranteed supports initiated by Superintendent, Dr. Christina Kishimoto.
