What do you like most about music?

Performing music is like solving a puzzle, telling a story and putting on a magic show all at the same time. It's always a challenge! I never get tired of playing and learning new things.

What instruments do you play?

Pretty much anything with a string on it (cello, bass, viola, violin, mandolin, guitar)

Is there any instruments you want to learn how to play?

Last year I decided I wanted to get much better at playing piano and keyboards. I joined a band where I'm a keyboard player to force me to keep learning how to play keys.

Interview with Mr. Henry

by Adeline Hamrick

Who is your favorite artist/musician?

I love so many styles of music that I don't really have a favorite artist. I do appreciate great musicianship so anyone who is an expert at their instrument gets my vote. If I really had to choose, I might go with cellist Yo Yo Ma. He's a real hero of mine.

Why did you want to teach strings?

To share the experience of playing music with others. Middle school is a great time to start playing!
