Activity Overview
In October, Jhong Siao Elementary School organized a fun and interactive Halloween Haunted House Challenge to help students practice English through games and teamwork. Students entered a haunted house and completed a series of English challenges in order to escape and earn Halloween candy.
Group Participation
Students participated in the activity in small groups of five. Working in groups encouraged cooperation, confidence, and active use of English in a supportive environment.
The first challenge was a Ring Toss Game. Students threw rings into cones labeled with Halloween vocabulary words such as witch, bat, and ghost.
Grades 1–3: Students said and practiced pronouncing the vocabulary word.
Grades 4–6: Students made a short sentence using the word.
When students who completed this challenge successfully they moved on to the next stage.
In the second challenge students solved Halloween-themed riddles.
Each riddle included clues using familiar Halloween vocabulary such as bat, broom, and candy.
Students listened carefully, discussed in their groups, and answered the riddles to advance.

The final challenge was a Halloween puzzle activity.
Students worked together to complete one puzzle showing Halloween characters such as mummy, witch, or zombie.
After finishing the puzzle, students said the name of the picture in English to complete the challenge and escape the haunted house.

Reward Cards and Candy
Each completed challenge stage awarded students five reward cards. At the end of the activity, students exchanged their reward cards for candy. The amount of candy received depended on the total number of cards collected. For example, students who collected 10–15 cards received three candies.
