SEED is a program focused on growing the advanced manufacturing and agriculture workforce through work-based learning and apprenticeships. This 8-week summer academy will give students the chance to learn from knowledgeable educators about agricultural processes, with a focus on hands-on learning. They'll also connect with industry professionals through firsthand experiences such as worksite tours and speaker presentations.
To apply, students must complete the below application, including a resume, recommendation letter, and video response submission. Students are also required to attend an information session with their parent or guardian to be considered for the academy. Dates for the information sessions are listed on our site, ncbce.org/SEED.
Applications close: Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM
1. The Video Response (The "Elevator Pitch")
Since you only have 3 minutes, keep your answers punchy.
Leadership Style: Don’t just name a style (e.g., "I'm a leader by example"). Give a 30-second anecdote of a time you helped a team reach a goal.
The "Why": Connect your interest in advanced manufacturing or agriculture to your future career goals.
Technical Note: Make sure your link is Unlisted, not Private. If it's private, the admissions team can't see it!
2. Recommendation Letter (Urgent!)
Because this is due on February 14th, you should ask your recommender immediately.
The Ask: "I'm applying for a summer Agriculture Academy and need a letter by Feb 14th. Would you be comfortable speaking to my work ethic?"
Submission: Remind them they can email it directly to cstroud@sampsoncc.edu if they prefer.
3. Relevant Experience & Leadership
The application asks for CTE courses and informal training. Don't overlook things like:
4-H or FFA involvement.
Working on a family farm or garden.
Fixing machinery or DIY projects (this counts toward "advanced manufacturing" interests!).
Club officer roles or being a captain of a sports team.
Note: Your Recommendation Letter is due on Valentine's Day (Feb 14). The rest of your application is due Feb 28. Set a calendar reminder now so you don't get caught off guard!
