Please email Mrs. Waller with questions or concerns
Eligibility Requirements:
Be classified as a JCPS junior or senior during the semester of the internship.
Be at least 16 years old and have successfully completed at least 2 CTE courses.
Have an unweighted GPA of at least 2.0.
Be on track to graduate.
Be up-to-date on all JCPS Core Career Development Plan lessons in Xello.
Please review the CvHS CTE Internship Course Syllabus for additional information
Other Considerations:
Students are responsible for their own internship placement prior to the start of the course. The Career Development Coordinator or School Counselor is not responsible for finding an internship host for the student.
A student wishing to use a current part-time job must demonstrate that the internship experience will go above and beyond their normal duties to learn a new skill with the employer.
Students may participate in paid or unpaid internships.
The student must have reliable transportation to and from the work site.
The Career Development Coordinator has the right to validate the integrity and safety of the internship site.
Students may not be supervised/evaluated by a relative at the internship site for the purpose of this course.
Interns are representing JCPS while participating in this course. If a student has discipline issues and/or excessive absences as outlined by JCPS Board Policy during the semester prior to the internship, principal approval will be required before being considered for the course.
Space is limited. If more eligible students apply than are allowed in the course, a lottery will be used to determine placement. Seniors needing the course for graduation will be given priority.
Students may be expected to attend in-person meetings, take phone calls, and/or Google Meets with the Career Development Coordinator throughout the course as needed.
Students will be notified by their Career Development Coordinator regarding placement in the course.
The student, parent/guardian, and employer will be expected to sign the JCPS CTE Work-Based Learning Agreement via email with an electronic signature (shared by the Career Development Coordinator via Droplet). Please make sure you and your parent/guardian have reviewed this document prior to completing this application.
If required paperwork is not completed within the first 10 days of the semester (by student, parent, and/or employer), the student will risk being removed from the course.
