Balancing school and sports can help student athletes in the long run. Depending on the sport and coach, students must have a certain GPA to stay on the team. This gives student athletes no choice but to focus in school and get good grades.
TIPS FOR STUDENT ATHLETES:
Focus on what you need to, when you need to. Don't let athletics distract you from school work.
Prioritize the most important items first. Sometimes it's difficult to know what to do when it's Monday and you have two tests on Wednesday, an essay due on Thursday, and a big game on Friday night. Take one day at a time.
Plan out your week. When you start getting super busy, which will inevitably happen, make a schedule of when you're going to study for certain tests, write your essays, knowing that you may have late night games and practices at the same time.
Let's hear some advice from some of our very own student athletes!
How do you balance school and dance?
"I get organized by making a list of what I have to do for the week. When I have game days I prioritize time to get my work done. My passion for dance is the thing that gives me drive to do good in school," said junior Grace Cali.
What advice can you give student athletes?
"Get your name out there, never give up, and always keep your options open to opportunities, even if they arent your first choice," said senior Justin Horne.
