Special Reading Session

It was essential to instill values of gratitude and selflessness to our students. To facilitate this, our Foreign English teacher, Kevin prepared a meaningful lesson centered around Shel Silverstein's timeless classic, "The Giving Tree." This story served as a poignant reminder of the importance of giving and recognizing those who contribute positively to our lives.

The lesson began with engaging peer discussions, allowing students to express their interpretations of the book and understand its deeper meanings. This interaction not only enhanced their English language skills but also fostered critical thinking and reflection on their personal experiences.

To add an element of fun, the class participated in the game "Keep It or Give It," where students answered questions related to the story and decided whether to keep or pass a mystery box to another group. This game encouraged collaboration and friendly competition while reinforcing the themes of generosity and selflessness found in the book.

To synthesize their learning, students completed a worksheet identifying individuals in their lives who exemplify the qualities of "The Giving Tree." This exercise encouraged them to think about ways they could express appreciation and give back to those who supported them.
