Virtual Kindness Club

Welcome to the JFKS Elementary School Student Council Virtual Kindness Club! If you would like to be a member of the JFKS VKC, complete at least ONE of the kindness challenges below! We encourage you to share your work with us via email so we can share it with our community!

Challenge: Thank You Notes to Community Helper!

ThankYouPrintable (1).pdf

Mr. Rogers said, when you're going through a hard time, "look for the helpers."

Think about all of the helpers in your community right now. Grocery store workers, police, food service workers, postal delivery workers, firefighters, hospital staff, teachers, your parents -- and many more!

To spread kindness, choose a few helpers and make them a "Thank You" card! Ask a parent to print the template here, or use art supplies at home to create your own!

Challenge yourself to write as many "thank you's" as your current grade level. So, if you're in K or 1st grade, make one. If you're in 2nd, make 2. If you're in 3rd, make 3, and so on. Bonus points if you make more!

Be sure to share your creations by sending a picture to tamara.faber@jfksberlin.org

Challenge: Check on Your Friends!

One of the best things about school is getting to see your friends! That is why one of the hardest thing for many kids right now is missing their friends.

For this challenge, the goal is to get a positive message to as many of your classmates as you can! Ask your parents if you can call your friends on the phone or write them an email. Tell your classmates why they are a good friend and be encouraging! If you don't have your friend's phone number or email address, you can send a message to your teacher and your teacher can pass the message to them - even if they are in a different class.

Even though you can't see them and play with them right now, it can make your classmates feel really happy to know that you are thinking of them.

Challenge: Spread Positive Messages

Spread positive messages!

For this challenge, use sidewalk chalk to decorate your drive way and the side walk in front of your house. Write words and draw pictures that will make people feel happy. Imagine the different people who might pass by and get joy from the words and pictures that you create!

If you don't have sidewalk chalk, use art supplies at home to create posters or signs that spread positive messages. Then, hang these signs around your house (with your parents' permission) to spread positivity on the inside! Maybe you could hang one on the refrigerator, the bathroom mirror, or on a door! Try to think of a place where everyone in the house will see it often and remember to be positive.

Take a picture of your positive message and send it to tamara.faber@jfksberlin.org

Challenge: Spreading Kindness through ART!

Create some sort of artwork: in your house, outside, or wherever you want. It would be very nice if you could make it motivational or uplifting during these difficult times, however it is not required. Then take a photo or video of what you made and send it to Tamara.Faber@jfksberlin.org, It will be displayed in a photo gallery, along with your name, the date, and your class. Have fun!
