Calculus is the mathematics of change. Developed by Sir Isaac Newton and Godfrid Leibniz, calculus provides the answer to the persistent question, "When are we ever going to use this?" All the skills of elementary mathematics come together to enable the implementation of Calculus concepts to solve and model dynamic real-world problems. Instantaneous slope, velocity, acceleration, area, and volume can all be calculated.
Course Description:
Students enrolled in AP Calculus AB have completed Trig/Pre-Calculus. We study limits, derivatives, indefinite integrals, and definite integrals with our focus on differential and integral Calculus. We extend the students' understanding of these topics through discovery and the use of technology. Students understand with hard work, they are able to succeed in Calculus and have the tools they need to be successful in their next Calculus course.
