Students must be in school a minimum of three hours to participate that day unless approved by the school principal.
Students must be passing 4 hours of instruction to be eligible the next week per KHSAA requirements. This means 4 of 6 classes or 5 of 7.
Grades for all students must be checked weekly on a consistent day.
A school’s School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council may adopt stricter academic requirements than the KHSAA. Contact your local school athletic director or principal to get a copy of your school’s requirements.
Students not cleared by the athletic director due to grades, behavior or transfer may not participate in any type of activity.
Eligibility checks are required every Monday for students participating in any extracurricular activity. This check is provided by the athletic director.
Coaches and sponsors will be notified of any ineligible students for the week.
Any athlete failing one subject will be placed on academic probation for one week.
Athletic director will notify the coach or sponsor of the probation.
Students will have one week to improve a failing grade to passing.
If the student does not improve their failing grade to passing during the one week probation, the student will be placed on a one week suspension from all practices and games. The suspension will be lifted once the student has a passing grade as documented by the weekly grading check.
Any athlete failing two or more subjects will be placed on an immediate one week suspension from all practices and games. The suspension will be lifted once the student has passing grades as documented by the weekly grading check and approval from the athletic director.
If an athlete is suspended from school, he may not practice or play that day.
If an athlete is assigned to an alternative school, he will be dismissed from the team.
Students participating in or attending sporting events must be picked up immediately upon completion of the event.
No student athlete will be permitted to depart from practice or a game with another parent or guardian unless there has been a prior arrangement approved by the head coach or athletic director.
Coaches and sponsors must remain with their players until all have been picked up.
