Educational Benefits Form—Hawthorne Elementary is one of many JCPS schools participating in the Community Eligibility (CE) Provision under the National School Lunch Program. The CE provision is directed toward schools with a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students. Under CE, all students receive a breakfast/lunch at no charge for the entire school year. However, to determine the eligibility of additional benefits for our students and to secure funding for our school, we need all Hawthorne Elementary families to complete the Educational Benefits Form (EBF) every year. One per family is fine. The EBF is used not only for data-collecting purposes but it also serves to continue to identify students who would qualify for free and reduced-price meals or fee waivers. Some families may prefer to not disclose Financial information; if this applies to you, there is a checkbox in both the hard copy and the electronic copy of the form where you can elect not to disclose. But remember, by filling out the form, you are helping your child's school receive additional funds.
You are now able to fill the form out online at https://jcps.me/ebf. For more information, you can also visit https://goo.gl/9SpMig. I am also available and more than happy to help you fill this form out over the phone.
Blessings in a Backpack—The BHFRC is excited to once again partner with the Blessings in a Backpack (BiaB) Program! Blessings in a backpack is distributed on Fridays.
Blessings in a Backpack is for Preschool and Elementary School Students.
Students will bring the food items home in their regular school bag/backpack.
Funding is limited for this program, and therefore based on need (free or reduced lunch) and on a first-come, first serve basis.
If you wish for your child to participate in the program, please complete this form: https://bit.ly/bhfrcbiab

Families must contact each provider directly for their childcare needs and inquire about the availability of seats and cost when JCPS schools are not in session. The information included in the document on ages served, hours of operation, and site addresses is being provided as a resource to families. JCPS/4-C cannot verify or endorse any provider.
If this list of childcare providers does not meet the needs of your family, you may use the free child care search tools from Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) at https://www.4cforkids.org/for-families/find-child-care/ or kynect at https://kynect.ky.gov/benefits/s/child-care-provider?language=en_US to search for other regulated child care providers in your area.

- WE ARE THANKFUL FOR ALL OF OUR FAMILIES! — As we prepare to take a short break from school for Thanksgiving, we want to express our gratitude for everyone who makes it possible for our students to come to school every day, on time, ready to learn. We thank:
- Our families and students for making daily attendance a priority since they know the habit of attendance will help them do well in the classroom.
- Our wonderful teachers who pour their energy into making each classroom an exciting place for exploration and knowledge so children do not want to miss out on learning
- Our support staff, community partners, and volunteers who provide the extra hands and attention our children need
- We appreciate each one of you so much. We look forward to seeing you after the Thanksgiving holiday. Please keep in mind that school is closed starting Wednesday, November 23rd and reopens on Monday, November 28th.
