A NOTE FROM YOUR TEACHER:

Welcome to our classroom! I am so excited to have your child in class this year! It’s going to be a great year of learning and growing. My name is Cortney Cox. I have my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville in Early Childhood and Elementary Education (birth-5th grade) and my Master’s degree in Literacy Specialist from the University of the Cumberlands. I have been at Blue Lick for 4 years, teaching 4th grade for 2 years before moving to 3rd last year. I feel very lucky, as Blue Lick is a fabulous school with great staff and even better students.

Fun Facts about me:

• I have three dogs, Ruby, Peyton, and Bailey, and a cat, Nemo.
• I love reading (my record is 24 books in one summer) and spending time with my family.
• Fall is my favorite time of year because my birthday is during that time.
• I am obsessed with movies, Panera, Target, books, and Life Saver peppermints.
• My favorite thing about teaching is getting to build relationships with a variety of kids as well as being able to watch them grow and being a part of their growth process.

My main goal is to make children feel safe, successful, and proud of their work. My motto is “LOUD AND PROUD.” The challenges the students will face this year will not always be easy and is going to require a lot of hard work. However, by pushing students outside of their comfort zone, I know that by the end of the year they are going to do amazing things and show growth each of their own ways.
