A note from your teacher:

Welcome to our classroom! I could not be more excited to have some of my first grade sweeties in my class again this year! It is also a treat to have bright new faces to my class and Blue Lick. It's going to be a great year of learning and growing! My name is Julia Chapin. I have my Bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville in Early Childhood Education (birth- through 5th grade), my Master's degree in teacher leadership and my Rank 1 as a literacy specialist from Bellarmine University. This is my 8th year teaching, and third year at Blue Lick Elementary. I feel very lucky, as Blue Lick is a fabulous school with great staff and even better students.

Fun Facts about me:

• I have beautiful white cat at home named Winter. She is my little baby.
• I love reading and spending time with my family.
• Coffee is life, and a must for daily functioning.
• My favorite thing about teaching is watching students grow. All students have the potential to grow a little each day. Seeing the growth from the beginning to the end of the year always warms my heart.

My main goal this year is to make all children feel successful and proud of the work they do on a daily basis. Sometimes this will be hard work and require that I push students beyond their zone of comfort. While this will be challenging, the growth they will make and see in the end will be worth it challenge. I would like to work together with you as parents to make this year a success, so please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.
