At Mt. Carbon, kindergarten through 5th grade students learn how to cultivate different mindsets to prepare them for the future. We use the work from the book A Mindset for Learning to help guide our instruction.

EMPATHY Kid Definition: "You have empathy when you feel someone’s feelings in your own heart. "

FLEXIBILITY Kid Definition: “When one thing doesn’t work, you try a different way."

PERSISTENCE Kid Definition: “When I have trouble, I bounce back and try again”

RESILIENCE Kid Definition: “You try and try again, even if it feels hard!”

OPTIMISM Kid Definition: "When you try something new, you think, “I can try!” and give it your best shot."
