At Kendrick Lakes, our GT center's curriculum is a complex interwoven structure of many layers. In a regular education classroom in a neighborhood school, the curriculum would be structured around the:

• Common Core Standards

and in the Jefferson County Public Schools, there is an addition layer of the:

• Bridge to Curriculum

In a GT center, we add another layer:

• Common Core Standards

• Curriculum Alignment Project (CAP)

• GT center expectations, which includes, but is not limited to:

  • differentiated content, process, and product 

  • higher-level/critical thinking

  • inquiry and project based learning

  • compacted curriculum

  • accelerated curriculum 

  • autonomous learning 

  • social/emotional skill building 

  • creativity and individuality

And as a team with our own high expectations of ourselves, we keep true to the GT model of project and inquiry based learning and a belief in the importance of creativity and finding passion in the gifted child.
