Applications are now open for the 2027 NC Governor’s School — an incredible four-week residential summer experience for academically and artistically talented students from across North Carolina! Also, JCPS covers the tuition for students who are accepted!
Governor’s School is NOT your typical summer school. Students live on a college campus, meet other motivated students from across the state, and spend four weeks diving into a subject they genuinely enjoy — without the pressure of grades, tests, or GPAs!
11th graders can apply in:
English • Math • Natural Science • Social Science • Spanish • Choral Music • Dance • Instrumental Music • Theater • Visual Art
10th graders can apply in:
Dance • Choral Music • Instrumental Music
Depending on your area, you could be conducting experiments, tackling challenging math problems, discussing modern literature and social issues, writing and creating, performing music, choreographing, acting, making art, or exploring Spanish language and culture. You’ll also participate in unique courses that encourage you to think deeply, discuss big ideas, hear different perspectives, and learn simply because you’re curious!
Think you might qualify? You only need to meet ONE of the following:
3.25+ unweighted GPA OR 3.5+ weighted GPA
4+ on an NC EOC OR 3+ on an AP exam
B or higher in an eligible CCP/university course
19+ Pre-ACT/ACT OR 1010+ PSAT/SAT
90th percentile+ on an aptitude assessment
