As we get closer to these recital events, we know our families will have lots of questions about the appropriate appearance of their dancers. We do have required hair and make-up that all students must follow, unless a teacher does request something different for a dance (i.e. bun, high pony, teased hair, etc.) Those special requests can be found on the costume info sheet that is handed out with your child's costume.
Please use the information below as a reference when preparing your dancers cosmetic bag for the big weekend!
For tips on what Miss Jackie recommends packing in your recital bag for the weekend, check out this video. We hope it helps!
Pre School Combo Students
Hair
Pre-School classes should address their Costume Info Sheet for hair specifics. If nothing specific is listed, then pre-school dancers may wear their hair neatly pulled back out of the face, dancers choice.
Make-Up
Pre-School classes should address their Costume Info Sheet for make-up specifics. If nothing specific is listed, then pre-school dancers may wear a little bit of blush, light colored lipstick, and eyeshadow or mascara if you choose.
Tot & Level I-IV Students
Hair
All Tot & Level I-IV dancers are required to wear their hair in a LOW PONYTAIL.
Here are some helpful tips to give you a great low ponytail.
Start by creating a clean center part. Brush out all of the bumps. Be sure to use water or styling spray to really comb the baby hairs and fringe pieces.
Add hairspray and lacquer and comb through.
Line your ponytail up between your ears.
Use smooth, secure elastics around pony (elastic should match hair tone). USE 2 ELASTICS and please be sure they are tight!
Spray hairspray or lacquer hair to slick back other pieces. Use soft brush to push back and rid yourself of bumps.

**Students with extremely short hair should talk to their teachers about an alternate hairstyle. Even girls with medium/short hair can get their hair in a low pony with some hair product!**
Make-up
Stage make-up is an important part of recital dance. The stage lights can make it difficult to see our dancers features. Make-up is able to highlight and accentuate under those bright lights so we can see our dancers beautiful smiles!
Tot & Level I-IV dancers should wear the following:
Foundation/Bronzer
Dark Pink Blush
White Eye Shadow on the entire lid
Black Eyeshadow in the eye crease
Black Eyeliner (along upper lid on water line and on the bottom of the lid along the lash line)
Black Mascara or False Eyelashes
Bright Fire Engine Red Lipstick
It doesn't need to be name-brand or high end make-up.
Drugstore make-up does a great job!

Jewelry
A reminder that all students should have dance jewelry to wear at recital. This includes a rhinestone choker necklace and rhinestone earrings (converters available for dancers without pierced ears). This set of jewelry is $25.00.
NEW STUDENTS: Please notify Miss Shari IMMEDIATELY if you need jewelry. She can be reached at 716-260-1787. Be sure to let her know if your child has pierced ears, or if they will need clip-on earrings.
RETURNING STUDENTS: If you need replacement jewelry, add your name to the list by talking to Miss Shari ASAP. Earrings - $10, Necklace - $15.
Occasionally, a teacher may opt to use a costume piece rather than the necklace, however our jewelry never changes and dancers can use it in other classes and years to come!
