The Spouses of JB MDL Org Thrift Store Inc. is seeking spirited and community-minded individuals to join our 2025–2026 leadership team!
This is a unique opportunity for Friendship members to get involved with the inner workings of our nonprofit thrift store and take on an impactful role. Board members help make key decisions about operations, finances, policies, and more.

EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITIONS
Role Summary:
The 1st Vice President supports the President by assisting with leadership duties and stepping in as Acting President when needed. This elected officer plays a key role in overseeing philanthropy, scholarships, and other key organizational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist and collaborate closely with the President.
Assume the President’s duties in their absence or if unable to complete their term.
Lead all philanthropic efforts, including welfare activities and supporting committees.
Advise appointed officers, chairpersons, and committees such as philanthropy/welfare, scholarships, and Cinderella’s Closet.
Serve on the Budget, Constitution & Bylaws, and Thrift Store Committees.
Co-sign checks and oversee management of Cinderella’s Closet and Annual Scholarship programs.
Help maintain the organization’s social media presence alongside the Executive Board.
Prepare end-of-year reports and update continuity documentation.
Volunteer at least one hour monthly at the thrift store.
Coordinate the outgoing President’s appreciation gift, contingent on budget.
Time Commitment:
Approximately 5–10 hours per week, including attending monthly board meetings, committee meetings as needed, and regular thrift store volunteering.
Role Summary:

Serve on the Budget and Constitution & Bylaws Committees.

Volunteer at least one hour monthly at the thrift store.
Time Commitment:
Approximately 5–10 hours per week, including attending monthly board meetings, committee and event planning meetings as needed, and regular thrift store volunteering.
Role Summary:
The Parliamentarian is a non-voting, appointed officer who ensures that all board meetings follow parliamentary procedure and adhere to the organization’s Constitution & Bylaws. This role is ideal for someone who values structure and enjoys guiding others through the rules that keep our organization strong and fair.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise the President and board on proper parliamentary procedures during meetings.
Maintain meeting order and address points of order.
Monitor quorum and oversee accurate voting processes.
Chair the Bylaws/Constitution Committee and Nominations Committee.
Support smooth leadership transitions and uphold organizational integrity.
Prepare end-of-year reports and update continuity documentation.
Volunteer at least one hour monthly at the thrift store.
Time Commitment:
Approximately 2–5 hours per month, including attending monthly board meetings, committee meetings as needed, and fulfilling continuity tasks.
COMMITTEE CHAIR POSITIONS
Role Summary:
Step into the spotlight as the heart behind Cinderella’s Closet—our very own “Say Yes to the Dress” experience! Perfect for those who delight in curating fashion, organizing chaos into beauty, and empowering military families to shine from the inside out.
Key Responsibilities:
Organize clothing donations, appointment scheduling, and event days.
Manage volunteer shifts and provide wardrobe assistance to clients.
Collaborate with board members and thrift store staff.
Maintain end-of-year reports and continuity documentation.
Volunteer regularly at the thrift store.
Time Commitment:
Varies based on seasonal events and appointment schedules; attendance at relevant meetings required.
Role Summary:
The Scholarship Chair leads the Scholarship Committee in identifying and supporting academic achievement within the community. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys nurturing academic dreams and guiding students on their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Organize and lead Scholarship Committee meetings.
Administer the scholarship application and judging process, ensuring fairness and applicant anonymity.
Coordinate scholarship reception and award ceremonies.
Collaborate with board members, volunteers, and community partners to support outreach and recognition efforts.
Prepare end-of-year reports and update continuity documentation.
Volunteer at least one hour monthly at the thrift store.
Time Commitment:
Approximately 3–7 hours per month during regular months; increased time during application and award cycles. Attend board and committee meetings and oversee the full scholarship process.
Role Summary:
The Events Coordinator Chair is the maestro of community joy, orchestrating vibrant celebrations and bringing people together. This appointed chair leads the planning and execution of engagement events that support the organization’s mission and membership.
Key Responsibilities:
Chair the Community Events Committee.
Plan and coordinate events such as Back to School, Fall Fest, and Holiday Giveaways.
Manage event budgets and collaborate with vendors, volunteers, and board members.
Partner with the Fundraising Chair on event-based fundraising support.
Liaise with donors to support the food pantry program.
Explore and develop member-focused social activities and sub-clubs.
Prepare end-of-year reports and maintain continuity documentation.
Volunteer at least one hour monthly at the thrift store.
Time Commitment:
Approximately 5–10 hours per week, including event prep, meetings, and hands-on coordination.
Role Summary:
The Cookie Drop Chair is a beacon of joy, leading one of the most cherished annual events for our military youth. Ideal for someone who thrives on organization, delegation, fundraising finesse, and spreading cheer through thoughtful coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
Budget and coordinate fundraising with the 87th Force Support Squadron.
Reserve event locations and manage publicity with Public Affairs and social media.
Organize volunteer teams for assembling and distributing cookie gifts.
Engage schools, community groups, and local donors.
Ensure thank-you notes reach all donors and supporters.
Prepare end-of-year reports and update continuity documentation.
Volunteer at least one hour monthly at the thrift store.
Time Commitment:
Approximately 3–6 hours per week during planning season, plus monthly board meetings and event coordination.
