The Craig High School Tech Squad and I (Mrs. Pumilia) are proud to announce our current project is now compete, the AR (Augmented Reality) Sandbox. This is a sandbox that has a sensor that can detect the depth of sand in the box via a program and code that we have perfected to use an Xbox Kinect that portrays invisible lasers out that can read the sand levels. You can use this to create Mountains, Canyons, and valleys by placing the sand in whatever formations you would like, another thing you could do that could be educational would be recreating locations around the world with our AR sandbox.
A hands-on sandbox exhibit combined with 3D visualization applications created by researchers at UC Davis.
Simply mold the sand by hand and the landscape comes to life! The sand is augmented in real-time with an elevation color map, topographic contour lines, and simulated water.

Craig houses 4 VR Kits that can be used to lead Google Expeditions with entire classes. Each kit has either Cell Phones or iPods that are located inside headsets that allow the students to see the lesson in 360 degrees. There are over 1000 lessons located on the Google Expeditions site. These include both Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Here is a link to the list of available expeditions. Note: press Control F to bring up the find box and type what type of lesson you are looking for. Many of these VR/AR experiences have teacher lessons attached and additional links.

The VR room located in the STEM lab of the library is Craig’s designated Virtual Reality Room. Here you will be able to access VR games and experiences ranging from learning about the anatomy of the human body to the black holes of our galaxy to using a bow to shoot some skeletons and just having fun! The goal of the VR room is to enable students to efficiently learn and utilize their creative intelligence to further their knowledge on specific and or broader subjects.
