Mr. Bartz has taught Computer Science at the High School for the past 13 years. He has a Master's Degree in K-12 Administration from Kent State University. His hobbies include golfing, coding, wakeboarding, home improvement projects, and spending time with his family. During the school day he is available for troubleshooting and general questions for all students and parents grades K - 12.

Mrs. Giammo has taught science at Garfield for the past 5 years. She has a masters degree in Classroom Technology with a K-12 online teaching and learning Endorsement. She enjoys being outdoors camping, hiking, running, and playing volleyball. Science and Math are her favorite subjects and she loves to solve complex problems!

Miss Shafer has been enthusiastically teaching middle school Math at Garfield for 7 years. She is certified in 4-9th grade Math, Science, and Reading with a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. Outside of the classroom she enjoys camping, reading, walking her dogs in local parks, and kayaking adventures. This year, Miss Shafer is teaching 7th grade Math and STEM during the day.

Ms. Miller has taught English at James A. Garfield for 13 years. She earned an undergraduate degree in Integrated Language Arts, as well as a Master's degree in Educational Administration, both from Kent State University. She enjoys reading, yoga, cooking, attending sporting events, and spending time with her family and her dogs. Mrs. Maresh has been teaching middle school English Language Arts at GMS since January, 2009. She developed her passion for reading as a young girl when she received the boxed set of the Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder for Christmas. Mrs. Maresh has a Bachelor's in Middle Childhood Education with an emphasis on Reading, ELA, and Social Studies, and a Master's degree in K-12 Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. Her hobbies include running, biking, vegetable gardening, reading, organizing, and spending as much time as possible with her husband, two sons, and dog, Maggie.

Mr. Norton is entering his 20th year of teaching. He has been teaching Social Studies at Garfield HS for the past 15 years. Mr. Norton is a graduate of Garfield and The University of Akron where he earned his Master's Degree in Sport Physiology & Coaching. This year he will be teaching Modern World History (and Advanced), College and Career Planning, Psychology as well as the Virtual Academy for Modern World History/Government. Mr. Norton enjoys rooting for the Indians, Browns and Buckeyes. In his free time he enjoys watching his children participate in sports, playing golf and fishing.

Mr. Massey has been an educator for 20 years at James A. Garfield local schools. He has two kids, Jesse (boy) and Jillian (girl), and resides in Streetsboro. He has coached football for over 25 years and currently coaches middle school football. In his spare time, you will find him at the gym or in front of the tv watching sports. A big buckeye fan! O-H! He received his degree in integrated social studies from Kent State university and a masters also from Kent State in athletic administration. Currently he teaches AP U S History, U S History, Current World Problems, and Financial Literacy.

Mrs. Cupples is in her 20th year at Garfield. She has taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade. She graduated from Hiram College in 2001 and has a Masters degree from Marygrove College. She has a 6th grader and a Kindergartener in the Garfield school district, and loves spending time with her family. Together they love to go hiking, camping, and new this summer - kayaking!
