The mission of the Elms Student Green Team is to promote sustainability and environmentally-conscious practices inside and outside of our school.
What we've done
What we've done
In April of 2022, Elms Elementary School was recognized as a national Green Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Our Green Team has implemented a school-wide recycling initiative and also created a recycle station for items not accepted by our county. The Green Team has promoted energy saving practices by running school-wide contests. We created a food share program in which unwanted, unopened food gets donated to both our local food pantry and a local equine rescue. We help maintain our school's aquaponics system, as well as our outdoor sensory garden.
In 2022, the Student Green Team created a video to help commemorate the school's recognition as a Green Ribbon School.
