Welcome to Parliamentary & Limited Prep! (Parli) debate is the no-prep, partner event. Instead of being assigned a topic monthly or yearly, debaters are given the topic and their side 20 minutes before the round, in which they take those 20 minutes to write their case with their partner. Because of its no-prep nature, parliamentary demands much less of a workload compared to other events.
Parliamentary debate is the perfect way to improve one's fast-thinking and writing skills. The 20-minute prep thoroughly prepares an individual to think and write fast. Unlike other debates, parliamentary is the only debate form with impromptu case writing.

Parliamentary debate also helps debaters learn to communicate more effectively and become a better team member. The 20-minute prep period really encourages an individual to communicate with their team member on building a solid debate case.
Parliamentary debate is one of the most popular debate styles throughout high school and college. Most debaters will try Parli at least once in their debate career in order to build essential improvisation skills. These fast-thinking skills cross-apply to the real world especially with job interviews, speeches, and other speaking activities.
