Homework assignments reinforce classroom lessons and develop basic skills so that students are prepared for the next level of learning. It also provides a valuable opportunity for students to continue to develop the skills of responsibility, accountability, and organization.
Homework will be assigned nightly and is worth 10-20% of a student's grade. Students should anticipate spending approximately 45-minutes per night on homework.
Additionally, any unfinished school work is expected to be completed at home and returned the next day.
Long term projects, book reports, studying for tests, should be completed gradually and NOT done at the last minute. I will always assign the dates of projects and tests in advance so students know how much time they have to complete the necessary work. As a result, they will practice and learn how to budget their time effectively.
Each day, Monday-Thursday, students are given the last 15 minutes to copy homework, while they clean-up for the day. At the end of this time, I will go over each assignment to ensure any questions students have are answered. Encourage your child to ask questions while they have me in front of them.
