Hi, my name is Lillian (Lily) Martin! I am an art education major at IUI! I want to be a teacher because I want students to have a place to feel safe and wlecomed. I know I can do this as a teacher and give them the support they need. Welcome to my ePortfolio, where you will get to know who I am as a teacher and what I bring to the table as an educator. This Space is designed to showcase my journey, experience and unique approach I take to the classrooms.Â
In the field experience reflections, you'll find detailed accounts of my hands-on teaching experiences.
In the mirror work section, you will see some of my more personal reflections throughout this semester.
You will also see a Universal Design for Learning lesson plan, written and taught by me! As well as, my teaching philosohpy which talks about who I am as a teacher.
Interests, Skills, Values, and Personality.
I'm outgoing and loving, always striving to create a classroom environment where every students feels cared for and valued. I believe in the importance of equality of every person who walks into my room. I work hard to ensure that everyone in my classroom is treated with respect and kindness. I love to draw, paint with water color, and scukpt with clay. My skills in art and teaching are complimented well with my dedication to a supportive and inclusive classroom. I want all of my students to know they can express themselves freely and embrace their unique selves.
Life Experiences that Shaped Me
Reflecting on my journey, there are a few pivotal moments and experiences that have shaped my values and thoughts. One was having a supportive family growing up. I always loved to do random projects and my dad or mom always jumped in to help. They would always get me what I needed or aid in my success. Another pivotal experiences was my middle school art teacher. As most middle schoolers do, I struggled to love like school was a place for me. Although, she always made all students feel artistic and welcomed. She even taught us how to do hair and took time to create strong relationships with us.
Professional Goals
As I continue my journey through college, I aim to develop my teaching style to make sure it suits to who I am. This style will be inclusive, engaging, and supportive. Beyond college, I aspire to have a classroom environment that equality and respect shine through always. Ultimately, I want to make a positive impact on my students' lives, and help them to discover their passion for art.

Children's Museum Experience! 02/17/2025
To the left, you'll see images of me working with kids and art outside of school!
These images are important for me to share because of what they mean to me. I love to share my love of art with others. This is something I am very passionate about! I love to teach new things to my niece and practice her skills. I think art is an important way for young kids to grow in their dexterity and critical thinking.
I also am excited as I get the opportunity to teach outside of IUI campus experiences with one of my best friends. She is a teacher at a daycare, and I've planned some lessons to work with her students. This experience allows me to share my love and learn how to create lessons for wider ranges of students (ages 3-6). I hope this helps me to plan school-wide projects to bring the grades within schools together.
