My journey begins in the classroom, where I’m committed to being more than just a teacher—I want to be a role model, a mentor, and a consistent presence for my students, especially those who don’t always see themselves reflected in leadership or academic success. As a Black male educator, I recognize the powerful impact of representation. Every day I step into the classroom, I’m not just teaching lessons—I’m showing young Black students, especially our boys, that they too can lead, learn, and thrive.
My next step is to become an educational administrator, such as a principal , where I can influence school culture, create safe and affirming spaces, and support teachers in their mission to inspire students. In this role, I want to prioritize equity, mental health, culturally relevant teaching, and high expectations—because I’ve seen firsthand how the system too often fails to meet the needs of Black students.
Ultimately, my dream is to open and run my own school, a school built on Black excellence, community involvement, and holistic education. A place where students are not only prepared academically but are also empowered to understand who they are, where they come from, and what they are capable of becoming. My school would center joy, healing, identity, leadership, and liberation things often left out of traditional education.
This career path is important to me because our community deserves more than survival we deserve opportunities to thrive. We need schools that reflect our culture, honor our stories, and set up our youth for long-term success. I want to help build that future. Not just for my own career, but for the generations coming after me. If I can use my journey to open doors, shift systems, and inspire others to lead, then I know I’ve fulfilled my purpose.
