When formulating the client request letter, we used my personal connection to the restaurant and the client.
Dear Ms. Audrey Ragsdale-Buddenbaum,
Hello. My name is Penelope Wink, a student at IUPUI and also one of your employees. For one of my courses, I am reaching out to help solve a problem for the business that we both work for. I picked this business because I feel a strong connection to the company, as I already work there and feel like there are many things we could improve. Your participation would be minimal; if you are selected for the project, a small team and I would go present a small research project and proposal with actionable ideas to help the company. You would only have to answer some questions at the beginning, and provide feedback on the proposal at the end.
For the problem, we are looking for actionable problems that involve data that we can research. Potential examples of problems you would like to have us help with are things such as how to reduce employee turnover, how to increase revenue, how to increase worker satisfaction, or how to streamline the kitchen more. If you have any ideas other than these, please feel free to offer them as potential research ideas.
In conclusion, I would like to lead a small research group in potential ways to help support our business. If you have any potential problems that could potentially be addressed, please feel free to let me know. If you would be able to get back to me by January 31st, this coming Friday, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time,
Penelope Wink
