What's in it For Me?

This indicator looks at whether students follow directions and remain on task during instruction, including how consistently students respond to prompts and how effectively redirection, when needed, shifts student behavior.

Observable Patterns Across the Learning Environment

Limited

Students are frequently off task or do not respond to directions
Student on-task behavior following prompts is limited or inconsistent
Limited observable connecting between instructional delivery & student response to directions

Emerging

Some students follow directions, while others require repeated prompting or clarification
Redirection results in short-term or inconsistent changes in student behavior
Student response to directions varies across the group
Observable patterns suggest uneven student follow-through across instructional activities

Consistent

Most students follow directions and return to task with minimal prompting
Redirection, when provided, results in timely and observable shifts in student behavior
Student engagement reflects generally clear and consistent instructional cues
Observable alignment between instructional delivery & student response to directions

Sustained

Students consistently follow directions and remain on task without prompting
Redirection is rarely needed and, when present, results in immediate & sustained engagement
Student behavior reflects clear internalization of expectations and instructional flow
Strong, consistent alignment between instructional environment and student response patterns
