The ISS Parent Association is a group of ISS parents and guardians that help the school by providing voluntary support. As soon as you join ISS, all parents are welcome to get involved in the ISSPA. We work together to design and run events to enrich the experience for students, teachers and parents, providing meaningful social opportunities for the whole ISS Community.
As part of our role we provide a helping hand and:
Support the goals, objectives and procedures of the ISS Board of Trustees
Provide social and fundraising support to the school through events, projects and donations
Act as a non-profit, non-political and non-partisan organisation
Check out our upcoming events on the whole school calendar on the ISS Community Portal and find us on Facebook at Stavanger ISS Parent Group.
We hold regular monthly meetings so please join us and find out how you can help. There are a range of PA programmes and committees which parents can join, share their talents and help contribute to a positive environment at ISS. Plus, it is a great way to meet other parents. Take a look at the range of opportunities available which require a helping hand in the following section. To find out more about the PA and other social events, keep an eye on the ISS Community Portal. Additionally, there is an ISSPA information board near the cafeteria which is regularly updated. The PA also organises Welcome coffee events for newcomers. After a period of familiarisation, there is a chance to ask questions and learn about the local community. Details regarding the next coffee morning will be posted on the Facebook page and Portal.
Our network of dedicated volunteers work closely together, support the school community and promote the rich learning environment, whilst investing in the well-being of both the students and parents. We look forward to you joining us and welcome you to either take up a position, or volunteer at any of our fantastic events. All helping hands are appreciated!
We are thankful for the amazing team that we have this year. Details regarding additional positions are listed below. If you’re interested in volunteering or have an idea to share, you can contact the PA at isspa@isstavanger.no.
We understand that a friendly face and a familiar connection can go a long way. That is why the school has a Parent Ambassador Network in which new families that wish to participate can be paired with another family by a range of criteria such as nationality, language, and/or other similarities. This network is formed of voluntary members of the PA Community that would like to offer you help and support during your transition period. They can help you to settle in, provide you with first hand insights and useful day-to-day information about both the school, and living in Norway.
Our Admissions Officer will send you the name of a contact once you have selected your preferred criteria for matching you with an ambassador and you have agreed to participate in this network. Generally, we try to match on the basis of the following areas:
Nationality/Country of Origin
Preferred language and cultural connection
Ages of children
Other likes and interests
You will be given the name and contact details for the ambassador, and your contact details will be given in return. You can then make arrangements to meet face to face once you have moved to Stavanger.
Your ambassador can meet with you as regularly as you mutually agree, and will aim to provide you with helpful information, and act as your initial point of contact. They can help you with a wide range of aspects such as introducing you to other parents or groups, showing you where to shop for your favourite ingredients, or helping you to find information. You will also be linked to the Room Parent Network if your children are part of the Early Years programme.
We also hold a regular Parent Association Coffee Morning where you can chat with other parents and share information in an informal way.
