In order to get a bank account and bank ID you will need:

• A biometric passport

• Residence permit

• Norwegian person number

• Valid work contract and/or tax card

You may not be able to open a Norwegian bank account until you have received your "person number/ D number" which can take some time. During this time you should make sure you can use your previous bank’s cards in Norway. You can use debit and credit cards from other countries in most stores. You can also use your debit card to take out cash at cash points/ATMs.
