If you are 16 and Speak decent Swedish, there are a lot more opportunities for you.  Contact the SA Coordinator to discuss opportunities or contact details within the Voluntärbyrån. If you speak only English, there may be opportunities for you too, but you'll have to make some calls or inquiries! 

Some events that happen yearly in Stockholm. Please note that dates may change year-to-year, and in order to get volunteer opportunity or spots you often have to register or express interest 4-6 months in advance.

Other organisations often offer opportunities for collaboration, but they require direct contact:

• Scouterna (Scouts)

• Läxhjälp (Homework help volunteer) organisations

• Organise a weekly reading time with a PYP classes in the library, either in English or in your Mother tongue

• Tutoring students of younger ages in the school

• Craft bracelets or pins with inspirational quotes and give them to people in the community that may need support

• Create an original game for children in a lower class to play

• Deliver home made cookies to children at a children hospital

• Collaborate with the PTA events or initiatives

• Creating an event to socialise with elderly people

• Participate in or organise an cleanup at school or in a park

• Organise and run an activity related to a theme day like Valentines Day, Easter, Nobeldagen etc.

• Build birdhouses in collaboration with the local nature center to attract a bird whose home is threatened.

• Teach computer skills or social media to the elderly or youth

• Rake leaves or shovel snow or the school grounds or your local community

• Perform a concert or play at a senior center

• Make a set of birthday cards for a class of younger students

• Organise a collection drive to collect goods or clothes for a homeless shelter, loppis, or group in need

• Painting rain barrels for land and water conservation efforts

• Revitalising buildings and structures

• Creating and maintaining a community garden

• Creating promotional materials for local organisations or initiatives

• Organise or sponsor a guest speaker and discussion on a topic of interest in a community (authors, people with unique experiences etc.)

• Campaign for more bike lanes in your local area

• Educating and promoting pesticide-free lawns among local schools, daycare, or similar

• Raise awareness and share knowledge about internet safety and privacy

• Run an awareness campaign about relevant health iniatitives (prevention, safety, etc.)

• Take inspiration from UN Day and create awareness about a UN goal

• Campaign to reduce bullying, or collaborate with EOG (Equal Opportunity Group) to promote inclusivity

• Contacting or working with elected officials to draft legislation to improve communities
