The transition from Year 6 (Primary School) into Year 7 (Secondary School) is an important point in a child's education. There are lots of changes, from the physical environment to the way that learning is delivered on a daily basis. This page has been designed to help provide you with the knowledge and strategies needed to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible. This page also has links to information particularly pertinent to the Year 6 into Year 7 transition period.

Year 6 into 7 Transition Parent Assembly
A recording will be made available after the session for those parents unable to attend.
Student Assembly introducing the taster day(Students Only)
Secondary Taster Day(Students Only)
(including Secondary taster lessons, Q and A session with current Year 7s and other activities)
Handover (Teachers only)
Meeting with Primary teachers and Secondary Heads of Department.
Handing over of information regarding Year 6 students from those teachers who currently know them best to ensure a smooth transition into Secondary.

Students are taught in their Homeroom group.
The Homerooms are created with our Primary colleagues to ensure students are happy and in a purposeful learning environment.
Students are taught in mixed ability groups
These groups are put together by our primary colleagues who know with whom your child will work best
In Year 7, Students are Taught in sets
Students are grouped in set 1 and 4. Sets 2 and 3 are mixed ability.
From Year 8, Students are set by ability(sets 1 to 4)
Students are set by ability and taught French either as a Mother Tongue or as a foreign language.
Students are offered lessons in their Mother Tongue for Russian, German and Italian. If they pursue this, they will have the opportunity to gain a bilingual diploma at IB.
Otherwise, students are offered to learn Spanish or Italian as a foreign language.
Students are also offered Study Skills or EAL lessons during this lesson time if pertinent to their learning needs
Students are grouped for PE by Homerooms with the current COVID protocols
