COVID-19

Dear Secondary Parents and Students,

School has not been "normal" for some time now and I am afraid it will not be as we return. Schools around the world are struggling to organise and implement the best ways to best continue learning whilst prioritising the health and safety of the community as we wrestle with this pandemic. As we have done since the beginning of the pandemic ISM will make sure that we take a proactive approach that ensures that learning will continue and the school is a safe environment. Our approach is detailed below.

Important - the Secondary School is currently running a COVID Hybrid timetable with the below timings.

In anticipation of abnormal circumstances relating to a return to school we have created an alternative (and temporary) timetable that better allows us to cope with the possible demands of schooling during a pandemic. Examples of such demands might be:

Full lockdown & a return to distance learning

Year group rotation needed due to social distancing measures

Hybrid online and face to face teaching

The hybrid timetable allows us to run the school as close to normally as possible given any of the above situations (and variations of them). It can be "switched on" and "switched off" at any time in the year.

*Class 10 - 13 will have optional supervised study on Wednesdays from 14.15 - 15.00.

** IB students may sometimes be required to stay in school until 15:00 on Wednesdays

DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM

If your child is unable to come to school for reasons related to COVID-19 you must let us know. We are offering a live distance learning program but only for students who have been authorised. If you are in a situation where your child needs to access the distance learning program please email your child's homeroom teacher

If a child is off sick and too unwell to come to school they will not be authorised to access the live lessons from home.

How do I access a lesson remotely?

  • Inform Homeroom teacher of the distance learning need providing reasons

  • Once authorised you will receive details of how to access the program through Google Classroom and Google Meets

  • Live access to classes will then be available.

HYGENE MEASURES

Masks will be worn at all times

Hand gels on entry to every classroom

Regular cleaning of surfaces

All students and teachers will be regularly reminded of the importance of these hygiene measures. In addition to the above measures student and staff temperatures will be taken at the start of the day. Anybody presenting as having a fever will report to the health centre. The above measures are based on the current best advice and are subject to change at short notice. Changes will appear here.

DISTANCING MEASURES

NO LOCKERS

BUILDING BUBBLES

ONE WAY SYSTEMS

ROOM SETUP

CLASSROOMS

All classrooms will be set up with tables placed to avoid face to face contact and with as much distance between students as possible. Hand sanitizer and tissues will be available in all classrooms. Students will be required to clean their hands every time they enter and leave the classroom.

THE CANTEEN

The canteen will be setup to maximise distance between students and perspex screens will create a barrier between the opposite sides of the tables. Masks will be worn when students & staff are not eating
