We will use the IB CAS* stages of services to guide our process.
Great service aligns with a Design Thinking process that is probably familiar for many of you, so we will think of the development of our projects as Design Challenges, or Design Opportunities.
On August 24, we will launch the first stage of service, INVESTIGATION.
As a community, we will:
Investigate Our Community Assets:
Who are we as a community?
What are our needs?
What can we contribute?
Define the Problem and Our Needs:
What is the problem and opportunity around diversity and racism at ISL?
Who does it impact? How?
What do we need to know in order to solve the problem?
What partners might we need to help us solve the problem?
*CAS stands for Creativity, Action & Service. A required component of the Diploma Program, CAS is an opportunity for students to demonstrate that they have developed the skills and dispositions expected of a student graduating from the IB.
Our projects can also tie into helping to achieve the ISL Pillars of Service as well as the Global Goals for Sustainable Development:
