Migrants are aliens, states Costa Rica’s resolution. The house erupted in anger, countries like Colombia and Canada calling out how Costa Rica dared to call migrants Aliens. Canada mentions the crisis that this labelling would create, how turning migrants into Aliens would cause a genocide, turning migrants into a sign of hatred and discrimination.
The house was upset, furious at the label given to migrants. This bias is already in place with migrants, and how this name would create prejudice and deteriorate the name of Migrants. Creating a world where students can’t even go to school without the fear of being discriminated against.
Costa Rica and Argentina attempt to cover their mistakes. Submitting a friendly amendment to attempt to fix their blunder. But by the time the amendment was added to the resolution, the damage had already been done, staining the reputation of Costa Rica and breaking the mutual respect in the house.
The delegate of the United States of America came up to defend the resolution. Defend how Colombia called the resolution bipolar and overmonitoring. Attempting to urge the House to vote for the resolution, despite the harsh, demeaning language and the monitoring of states. During POIs, the delegate of the United States was called hypocritical multiple times, with current events going against what the US proposed.
