The African Union (AU) advances continental unity, peace, and sustainable development. Delegates coordinate conflict prevention and peace operations, economic integration, health security, and Agenda 2063 priorities. The goal is to strengthen sovereignty, prosperity, and “silence the guns.”

Introductory Message:
Hello delegates, my name is Charlie Doherty, and I have the honor of serving as your Head Chair for the African Union at this year’s IASAS MUN. I’m currently a senior at the International School of Bangkok, where I also serve as the Secretary-General of ISB MUN. This will actually be my first time chairing at ISB, and I couldn’t be more excited to do so at IASAS, a conference that showcases some of the best diplomacy and debate in the region. Outside MUN (and talking far too much), I run cross country and track, and I’m an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, Chelsea FC, and the Boston Celtics. I look forward to seeing the passion, nuance, and collaboration each of you will bring to committee, and I can’t wait for the engaging debates that lie ahead in the African Union!
