A 'single CAS experience' usually means participating in a one-off event. You 'walk in' either as someone with relevant experiences in the event or as a new comer, willing to try your hand at something novel.
A 'series of CAS experiences' is your cumulative participation in clubs during the expected duration of time in ISKL's HS co-curricular activities OR in a out-of-school activity. Essentially you are focusing on your individual & collective development and growth through your long-term commitment to your CAS experiences.
CAS projects are shown as 'collaborative series of CAS experiences'. Learn more about this in the 'CAS Project' section of this website.

The five CAS stages are:
Investigation:
a) Personal inventory: Students identify their interests/skills/talents to contribute to a particular purpose or cause.
b) Assessing the situation: Ensure that your ideas are realistic for your growth and respecting the actual needs of individuals, the natural environment
Preparation: If working in a group: assigning roles and responsibilities to each member is required to develop a feasible & purposeful plan of actions, You must identify the specific timeline, mode of delivery, resources, etc.
Action: Implement the plan of action with collaborators. Communication with one another is essential in the process.
Reflection: Throughout your goal achievement process, individually and with others discuss what you have been doing, what happened along the way, what your feelings are telling you about your progress, and raise critical questions to evaluate your work and how it is benefiting the others or the environment. Record these and any new insights in your CAS portfolio in ManageBac to inform your next course of action.
Demonstration: Share your process and outcome with others through presentations, video clips, displays, etc. These can evoke response from others, which will help you evaluate your goal achievement and its outcomes more objectively.
ManageBac is the online platform that ISKL is using for the management of our IBDP needs. On this platform students can document their CAS experiences through the CAS Portfolio and the supervisors can directly see their updates and how well they are doing.
Each CAS entry on ManageBac allows you to write your reflections in journal form and upload any additional material to show your progress, e.g. photos, video clips, certificates, websites, etc.
Each student gets their individual login which can only be accessed by their CAS advisor and the CAS coordinators of the school. The website link can be found under: https://iskl.managebac.com/login and on the ISKL High School page.
During the duration of each experience or the project, the student should reflect on their progress, their goals and whether they are successfully attaining the CAS learning outcomes. The reflections are also the primary evidence for the CAS advisor and coordinators to determine whether the students are doing CAS successfully or if they have to do more. In the reflections, the student can think about what could be improved, changed or what they have learnt during this experience, or also simply how they have experienced doing their experience/project and how they felt.
