ISD 728 schools are designated as grief sensitive schools by the the Coalition to Support Grieving Students and the New York Life Foundation. This means that we have committed to help provide a supportive environment for students who have experienced the death of a loved one. As such, we have several grief resources available for families and connections with community organizations to make referrals for additional professional support. Below are some links to some of these resources and connections, but please reach out to prevention-safety@isd728.org or your student's school social worker if you would like more or have questions.
Camp Erin®-Twin Cities
Brighter Days is proud to be a partner of the Eluna Network, and will offer Camp Erin®-Twin Cities twice per year. Camp is a recognized, therapeutic method that teaches youth in the medium that is most familiar and comfortable to them—PLAY!. Camp activities embed the learning in fun, yet instructive, activities. The unique camp experience creates an atmosphere to facilitate safe expression of grief both physically and emotionally, as well as traditional camp activities such as canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts, and games. Campers learn that they are not alone in their grief, which fosters a sense of belonging that is often shattered when a parent or sibling dies. Lasting friendships develop out of the camp experience, creating an extended support community. Watch our camp video HERE!
