We are giving back to the community this December, using holiday joy as our inspiration!
We collected donations for a family in need, collected food for our community food shelf, and raised funds and collected presents for holiday gifts for those in need.
December was “Giving Back” month for CLC students. Students brainstormed different ways they can contribute to their classmates, school, and community. Students decided to make Christmas Ornaments with the “Make One, Give One” theme. Students made and distributed ornaments to local senior living center. Students also coordinated the pick up and delivery of items for a local family that was displaced due to a home fire. Students delivered a Uhaul full of items to the family’s new home at the end of December. Students also made “Dog Treats” to raise money for Feed My Starving Children. Students volunteered at Feed My Starving Children in December and presented them with the fund raised. (There is a picture with the amount of food we packed)
Students made and decorated a variety of holiday crafts made mostly from recycled and upcycled materials. Those crafts and ornaments were then given to the Mala Strana Nursing home in New Prague, Minnesota.
On December 21st, students from the NP Compass Learning Center traveled to Chanhassen’s Feed My Starving Children distribution and bagging center and bagged, labeled, and boxed food to be sent to impoverished countries for 3 hours. Students had previously raised money to donate to Feed My Starving Children through selling dog treats and taking donations from the community.
