Qualifications and Requirements

The following information is required to be a substitute teacher in New Prague Area Schools:

• Teaching License - A valid Minnesota teaching license, or a valid Minnesota short call substitute teaching license is required. The license permits you to substitute teach in grades K-12. To obtain or renew a teaching license you will need to visit the Professional Educator Licensing and Standard Board website - https://mn.gov/pelsb/aspiring-educators/apply/ Click on the "Online Licensing System" link under Substitute and Administrator License Applications.
• New Prague Area Schools Employment Application - Complete a substitute teacher application online at npaschools.org/new-prague-schools-careers.
• Pre-employment Background Check - All prospective employees must pass a background check. (This is different than the background check required when applying for your teaching license.) Applicants must pay for their background check at a cost of $22.00
• Employment Paperwork - Human Resources will send an email with a link to complete employment paperwork and review onboarding documents.
• In-person Meeting - All applicants must meet with Human Resources. Applicants are also required to show required identification for the I-9 form.
