Multiple timers. Create more than one timer and easily glance at all your running timers.
Notes
Inline PDFs and document scans. PDFs and document scans are presented full-width in your note, making it easy to view and interact with them. It’s quick to flip to a page of a document you’re reviewing, and great for previewing multiple PDFs in the same note.
Easy review and markup. Read and annotate, or sketch directly on PDFs and scanned documents in your note when using Apple Pencil.
Open in Pages. Create a Pages document from your note with a quick selection from the Share menu.
Freeform
Improved drawing. Make eye-catching boards with new drawing tools like Variable Width Pen, Fountain Pen, Highlighter, Watercolor, Slicing Eraser, and Ruler; plus support for hover, tilt, and snap to shape.
Better diagramming. Quickly build diagrams and flowcharts by dragging connector handles to connect objects.
Follow Along. Guide collaborators around your board so that they can see what you see as you move around the canvas.
Share to Freeform. Use the share sheet to add content from other apps to your Freeform boards.
PDF Markup: Fill out forms, take notes, or doodle on PDF documents you insert into Freeform.
Accessibility
Assistive Access. A cognitive accessibility feature with large text, visual alternatives to text, and focused choices for Phone and FaceTime, Messages, Camera, Photos, and Music.
Live Speech. Type what you want to say and have it spoken out loud in phone calls, FaceTime calls, or in-person conversations.
Clock App
Multiple timers: Run several timers on iPad simultaneously, perfect for when you’re cooking and need to keep track of different steps and dishes.
Labeled timers: Name timers so you know what each is counting down for.
Timer presets: Start a timer quickly with a range of preset options when creating a new timer.
Recents: Restarting your most used timers is as simple as a tap with a new recents view.
Dictation
Improved speech recognition: Dictation has improved accuracy and supports more languages on device using an all-new speechrecognition model.
Translate
New languages: Translate, system-wide translation, and Safari web page translation support Ukrainian.
Streaming text: See translations in real time as you enter text into the translation card with voice or the keyboard.
New translation cards: Translation cards are oriented to make it easier to know what language you are translating to and from.
Copy translation: After making a translation, you can tap the new copy button to add the translation to your Clipboard.
Redesigned conversations: Viewing current translations is easier in the redesigned Conversation view.
Live camera translation: Translate text in the Camera tab without needing to pause the view. High-quality tracking lets you simply point your camera at text and see overlaid translations in real time.
New Features in iOS 14
Your iPad has recently updated to iOS 14.(Most recent update is now 14.1) This is otherwise known as iPad OS. The reason for this is that for the first time, you iPad has a more fully functional operating system. Here are a few new features you may not be aware of:
Safari is now a full functioning browser.
In the past, Safari (and Chrome or other browsers on the iPad) was a mobile browser. This meant that it was a simplified browser designed to work on a small screen and with less power than a computer. Now, Safari is a full functioning browser. This means that it can run websites that did not used to run on your iPad. You can run Skyward, Canvas, Google Docs, Google Sites and much more!
Apple Classroom can now distribute and collect files to student ipads.
From any file you would like to share, click the export icon. In the top Airdrop section, you should see your classroom listed as well. Select your class and it will send the file to each students’ iPad. They will get a popup asking them to Accept it.
To collect finished files, students can use the same export icon and select you in the Airdrop section. In Apple Classroom, tap Sharing to see a list of all shared items, then select the item you want to review to open it in the appropriate app. Shared documents will be saved on your iPad once you open them.
Multitasking on the iPad
With Split View, you can use two apps at the same time. For example, you can view photos while you compose an email. Or look at a location in Maps while you search for vacation ideas in Safari.
How to use Split View:
Open an app.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the Dock.
On the Dock, touch and hold the second app that you want to open, then drag it off the dock to the left or right edge of the screen.
How to adjust Split View:
To give the apps equal space on the screen, drag the app divider to the center of the screen.
To turn a Split View into a Slide Over, swipe down from the top of the app.
To close Split View, drag the app divider over the app that you want to close.
Files app lets you see your files organized how you want them organized.
