If you fail a required class in high school, you will need to make up the credit in order to meet graduation requirements. One failed class does not mean you are off track for graduation, there are options to get back on top of your credits!

Summer school is a credit recovery option for students who need to make up one or more classes. Students can earn one credit per week, up to 3 credits during summer school programming. Courses are completed through the Edgenuity program.
If you fail a required class, you will automatically be invited to summer school around May. Check your mail for your invitation and enrollment information. Forms can be returned to the JFK front office or completed day one of programming.
Beacon is a credit recovery program located within JFK's building. One or more Beacon credit recovery courses take the place of one of a student's elective period during the school day. Students complete coursework at their own pace using Edgenuity or coursework packets.
Students can work on their course at school or from home, but daily attendance is required. With consistent effort and hard work, students should be able to recover multiple classes during a trimester.
After-school credit recovery is an online option that works best for students who only need to make up 1–2 classes and cannot fit Beacon into their daily schedule. You school counselor can help get you signed up for "After School" Credit Recovery with guardian approval.
Students complete the coursework on Edgenuity "after school" (at home) and must check in with their teacher twice a week through email to receive support and stay on track.
