Dakota County administers many state and federal programs that provide aid for those in need. There are many different types of assistance programs that help with medical care, food, child care and much more.

  • Interviewing for public assistance
    • You will need to come into the Northern Service Center for an interview.
    • Intake is scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m. Intake is closed on Wednesdays and holidays.
    • The application and forms must be filled out before you see a worker.
  • Limited child care available
    • Limited drop-in childcare is available while you are completing your business in the office.
    • Drop-in child care center located in the Northern Service Center first-floor lobby.
    • Hours: 8:15 a.m.-4:15 p.m.
    • For ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age
    • Parents must have ID to sign in children
