Early Childhood Screening

Child doing vision screening

The state of Minnesota recommends Early Childhood Screening (ECS) at age three and is a requirement for kindergarten entrance. ECS is a check-in on how your child is learning and growing. Screening includes a developmental assessment, vision and hearing tests, height and weight measurements and an immunization and health history review.

The purpose of this FREE screening is to identify children who may need additional time and experiences to be ready for school. The sooner we get started, the more likely your child will begin school with the necessary skills to succeed. Screening helps you find out how your child is doing and answers parenting questions while connecting you to early childhood programs and community resources and services.

ECS is offered throughout the year for all three to five year olds and is held at the Early Childhood Center at Eagle View Elementary.
