I love utilizing technology in all aspects of my work and personal life. I began working with computers in the mid 1980s, where I learned to program from a DOS prompt. I worked for IBM in the 1990s and early 2000's, while surviving the Y2K era of upgrades and technology. After going back to college and getting my teaching degree in 2007 I knew technology would be an integral part of my classroom. As a part of my teaching philosophy I believe that technology should support and enhance the learning environment. In 2020, when the definition of a classroom took on a whole new meaning, technology allowed us to continue the learning environment. During the school year 2020-2021 I was allowed to use technology to create a new environment as a virtual teacher in Paulding County. This year of growth as a teacher and an advocate for technology allowed me to explore the pros and cons of technology based environments with students. This site lists five tools that I have utilized during the 2021-2022 school year to strengthen my classroom.

I use these daily! I plan my whole day to correspond to the slides, when I need to be out, it is easy to let a substitute run through a normal day with the continuous slide presentation.

My students love to explore locations around the world and close to home. Building presentations are easy and help the kids make connections to the big picture.

Flocabulary is a fun and interactive tool that engages the student learning. The music and review work is encouraging and well connected.

Great interactive tool that allows students to become a part of the learning environment. The instant feedback from student responses helps me target struggling learners.

Resourceful tool that allows for students to see artifacts, art, and historical locations from their classroom. The museum visits come to you.
