Indian River CSD Physical Education Curriculum: This link will bring you to a page that displays the k-12 Curriculum.
Calcium Primary School PE Curriculum is based on our district curriculum. In order to keep the information and activities fresh and exciting for our students, we may not teach the same units every year. We take into consideration the wants and needs of our students as we plan the upcoming activities.
It is very important that we align our activities to meet the New York State Standards for Physical Education, and Health, as well as, incorporate learning objectives from other core areas such as; science, math, history, and ELA. Our curriculum is very rigorous and engaging, allowing for the success of ALL students. Our students are encouraged to try new activities at their own pace allowing for an increase in self-confidence, self-esteem, and willingness to take risks. (Challenge by choice) We believe in empowering our students so that they may reach their fullest potential as a student, a leader and as a productive member of their community through positive decision making.
Example Year in Review:
The above example may change from year to year to keep the program fresh, fun, and relative to the needs of our district and students. All elementary schools teach units of study based on the District objectives, goals and program standards. We pride ourselves in the supportive role we share with our colleagues. It is our premise that we raise a child as a village, thus, we support classroom programs, and school initiatives. The physical education program will incorporate cross curricular activities when appropriate.
